Workspaces, clients and projects

Give each client or team a workspace, then keep the shared client and project directory in one place.

A workspace is where product data lives. TurtleTime, Tides, Kraken and Shelly all treat the active workspace as the current set of clients, projects and people. Create and name organisation workspaces in ShellStack. The products then open them. They do not let you rename an organisation workspace from inside the app.

Create a workspace

  1. Open Settings → Workspaces The page shows how many workspaces the plan allows. The create button disables when you are at the limit.
  2. Name it for the engagement Use a client, a studio or a team. Avoid a pile of “New workspace” names. People pick from this list in every app.
  3. Add the directory Select the workspace. The client and project directory opens on the same page. Create the client once, then add projects under it.
  4. Decide who may enter Unrestricted members get in. A restricted member needs this workspace on their allow-list under Team.

Clients and projects

  • A client has a name, a colour, and an optional image or icon. New clients receive a stable colour from the name until you choose one.
  • A project sits under a client. It can carry a colour, an icon, and — in TurtleTime — a budget, hourly rate, retainer and billable flag.
  • The internal client always exists, is visible to every member, and cannot be deleted. Projects with no client appear under it.
  • TurtleTime and Tides can both see a client. You do not recreate it in the second app.

Branding

On an Enterprise plan, the selected workspace can set a light or dark theme, whether the app name shows, and per-app titles and logos for Tides, TurtleTime and Kraken. Logos upload immediately as a preview, then save with the workspace. Reset clears one app’s logo. Members see the same screen read-only. On other plans the branding section explains that it is an Enterprise control.

Delete a workspace

Deleting a workspace removes it from every app switcher. Do that when the engagement is finished and you have exported anything you still need. Do not create a second organisation to get around a workspace limit.
