You should not open a second app to ask if the timer is still running.

ChatGPT is another tab. Copilot lives in a document. Lindy fires a scenario. Shelly sits in the app you already have open, and a write waits until you confirm it.

The failure mode of “AI at work” is the alt-tab. You are in the timer, you wonder if it is still running, and the answer is in a chat product that has never seen the timer. I wanted to ask from the page, and I wanted a destructive step to come back as a button, not as a surprise in the client’s board.

Shelly is a crew with a job, and it is also a panel. The panel knows which app and which page you are on. In the timer that is the clearest version: ask whether the timer is still running without leaving it. If the answer lives on the board or in the wiki, the panel can open that app. You do not keep a second login for the teammate.

What it is allowed to touch

  • First-party tools follow your access: board cards, the timer and its entries, document search, read and write.
  • A read can run. A write comes back as an action you confirm or cancel.
  • Admin-only tools stay admin-only. Member access and purging archived documents are not a casual chat command.
  • Connected apps are searched, then used. A shared chat may use connections shared with that chat. A private connection stays private.

The crew is still the point

The panel is how you ask. The crew is what answers: instructions you can version, skills loaded only when needed, memory at the workspace, and a run that pins the behaviour it started with. Work that belongs on the board arrives in the agent inbox. Shelly does not invent a second board, and it does not get to surprise a client.

If you had to leave the page to ask, it was not a teammate. It was another login.

Open Shelly when the work is already on screen. Open a chat tab when the work is the conversation.
